Conflict management is a decision-making process towards ensuring industrial harmony.This is because every organization seeks to have solid management employee relationships hence,no organization can effectively thrive amid any form of instability emanating from conflict.This paper analyses the role of harmony on Chinese and Indian conflict management and resolution at workplace.It explicates the philosophical foundation of harmony based on Chinese culture,Indian cultures and highlights its impact on SinoIndian conflict behaviors.This has aims to address to respond to the research questions such as: Does harmony at workplace help to manage the conflicts in the organization? What are the factors affecting harmony at the workplace?What is the role of harmony at workplace to manage the conflict in the organization?Hence,the prime objectives of this study is to investigate and analyze the pattern of relationship between harmony at the workplace and conflict management,assesses the factors affecting harmony at the workplace and identifies the role of harmony at the workplace in conflict management of organizations.This study has attempted to discuss the differences in between Chinese harmony patterns and those of the Indian society.The paper then delineates some compliance-gaining strategies employed by both Chinese &Indians in conflict situations,and argues that more research in this area is necessary for people to better understand both the countries’ patterns at workplace for such conflict management situations where harmony or concepts similar can play a major role in enhancing factors that vary from job satisfaction to turnover rate.Job satisfaction,turnover rate and emotional strength of employee are taken to represent the harmony at the workplace.Hypotheses are developed to identify the relationship between harmony and conflict in Indian and Chinese organizations.Indian and Chinese organizations and employees are set as the population for this study.A convenient sample has been made to select the organization and random sampling has been done to select the respondents in the Indian and Chinese organization.A total of 60 questionnaires was circulated in Indian and Chinese organization each making a total of 120 samples.A total of 108 questionnaires were responded and collected from the Chinese and Indian organizations i.e.54 sample from each country.Questionnaire is the basic research instrument for this study.Survey is conducted through questionnaire to collect both qualitative and quantitative data which is the major strength of this study.Questionnaire is appropriate instrument as it best addresses the objectives of this study.From the study it is found that job Satisfaction,low turnover rate,emotional strength among employee improves the harmony at the workplace in Chinese as well as in Indian organization.If there is harmony at the workplace,it reduces the conflict in the organization.There is moderate degree of negative relationship between harmony at the workplace and conflict in the organization.High job satisfaction improves the harmony at the workplace in the Chinese and Indian organizations.Similarly,low turnover rate helps to improve the harmony at the workplace in Chinese and Indian organizations.Emotional strength in employee helps to improves the harmony at the workplace in Chinese and Indian organizations.Finally,presence of harmony at the workplace helps to manage conflicts in Chinese and Indian organization.The most influencing factors at the workplace in Chinese organizations are team work,open communication,and open window policy.Similarly,moderately influencing factors at the workplace in the Chinese organizations are growth opportunities,positive mental attitude,motivation,facilities,benefits & incentives and harmony related training.In the same way,least influencing factors at the workplace in the Chinese organizations are supportive management,recognition & reward and change management.Most Influencing Factors affecting harmony at the workplace in the Indian organizations are team work,positive mental attitude,harmony related training,and growth opportunities.Moderately influencing factors at the workplace in the Indian organizations are open communication,change management,recognition & reward and motivation,facilities,benefits &incentives.Similarly,least influencing factors at the workplace in the Indian organizations are supportive management and open window policy.Harmony plays a vital role at the workplace to manage the conflict.It enhances team work,contributes in efficiency,focuses on problem solving,discourages group politics to manage conflict,advocates synergy to manage conflicts,promotes constructive conflicts,discourages destructive conflicts,encourages proactive action to manage conflict,attacks on issues rather than individual to manage conflict and provides empathy to manage conflict.The study has further made the recommendations to shareholders,board of directors,management and employees.
