The study aims to identify the sustainability of microfinance institutions during COVID-19 in Bangladesh. The study’s problem is that most microfinance institutions suffer financial sustainability during COVID-19.Conversely,many microfinance institutions still can not meet their clients’ needs.Research findings are that most microfinance institutions can not do well in this sector, tiny microfinance institutions in Bangladesh.By contrast, during the COVID-19,everything was closed in the lockdown period across the country.Despite that, many people can not do well in business and can not earn enough money;microfinance institutions’ clients can not correctly utilize the loan amount. Therefore, microfinance institutions’ borrowers can not pay installments.Contradictorily, other findings are that most microfinance institutions have not maintained accurate financial statements, and thus financial success calculation was reliant on incomplete financial evidence with observations.Microfinance institutions have not undertaken independent monitoring and supervision. Also, most microfinance institutions do not survey over the clients’ needs. They do not want to understand clients’ needs. Most microfinance institutions follow GB,BRAC,or ASA operational mechanisms. On the contrary, some findings related to MFIs sustainability are ethical reasons, managerial reasons, legal reasons, unfortunate reasons, external risks, locational reasons, and operational structure that would increase during COVID-19.To conduct this research, the author has used the qualitative analysis method.Information is collected from secondary sources like articles, national and international newspapers, the mixed market, different NGOs websites, microfinance institutions websites, government websites, annual reports, and other different sources. However, the study recommendations may help microfinance institutions sustainability after the COVID-19 period in Bangladesh. The research findings and recommendations would help other developing nations, microfinance institutions, practitioners, government, and researchers.
