金属型低压铸造实质上是其它金属型铸造工艺的一个补充,即金属型重力铸造和压力铸造相结合的产物。低压铸造能够达到良好的表面光洁度和较高的尺寸精确度、提高金属液利用率、利用砂芯或对取芯来生产内形复杂的铸件、能生产大型薄壁铸件、能适用于多种合金(其中包括能进行热处理的合金)和降低生产成本。同金属型重力铸造和压力铸造相比,金属型低压铸造具有如下特点:
