In the monthly conversation, we tried not to talk about Microsoft, but we failed to do so. This “everyday” software “empire” seems to be inherently a reckless “children ”. In March, Bill Gates went to Washington to attend the conference in order to participate in an extraordinary hearing of the US Department of Justice. It’s hard to imagine how accustomed to the “confucianist” convincing genius Bill Gates will be facing opponents: ambitious Sun CEO, not to be outdone Netscape CEO and 27 ill-informed “local state chief inspector” ". To show fairness, the U.S. Department of Justice has also attended the hearing with Dell’s personally-president Dell CEO and Great Plains Software’s CEO Doug Bergman. Microsoft has worked hard on IE 4 and has suffered. With AOL and other ISPs, it is almost bundled with IE 4, and integrated with IE 4 within Windows 98.
