吉县位于黄土高原南部的残垣沟壑区,十年九旱,土地瘠薄。有机质含量只有0.58%,全氮为0.04%,速效磷为0.5ppm。薄致旱、旱致薄、瘠薄和干旱成为小麦高产的双制约因子。全县12万亩小麦,在1960年至1987年的28年间,年平均亩产只有53.2公斤,产量低而不稳。针对这种情况,我们坚持在有机旱作的基础上,着重在麦草轮作和种草肥田方面进行了探索,取得了较理想的效果,创出了一条种地养地相结合的路子。其具体做法是:
