Uncultivated sugarcane varieties were sunk after 12 (1/4) hours of photoperiod, coupled with red (R) and far red (FR) signals from 6:00 am to 8:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 6:15 pm Light-assisted treatment replaces incandescent light to induce flowering. These tests were conducted continuously at the Banten Sugarcane Breeding Station from 1982 to 1984. From July to December 1982, the combination of FR / R and R + FR / R + FR with supplemental lighting first achieved the boost effect. After testing with the non-flowering variety F157, 23% and 9% of the sugar cane blooms, whereas the spikelets show control over incandescent light and none of them bloom. Another poorly flowering variety, F167, responded well to R + FR / R + FR treatment by 46% of the cane stems. The combination of treatments R / R, FR / FR and R / FR has no effect on flowering. The flowering of 20 poorly blighted cultivars was not affected by FR / R and R + FR / R + FR treatments in 1983. However, these same cultivars were tested with R + FR / R + FR from February to July 1984 and were blooming in 5 varieties (B51116, F167, H60-3875, 70-8539, 71-4053) with 4 cultivars (Badila, F154, H58-665, H62-7115), and H58-665, H60-3875 also began to bloom after treatment with FR / R. Control F167 bloomed, H58-665, H60-3875, 70-8539 began to flowering. The treatments carried out from July to December in the same year showed that the treatment of R + FR / R + FR for F167 and the treatment of FR / R for F154 were effective. The above results indicate that, although the effects of red and far red light on the induction of sugarcane flowering vary by species and year, they may have practical value for some special varieties.
