刘家峡水电站位于甘肃省永靖县境内黄河干流上,是一座以发电为主、兼顾下游灌溉、防洪、防凌及城市供水等综合利用的水利水电枢纽工程.电站下游33公里处设有上诠水文站,水文站控制流域面积182821平方公里,电站与上诠站区间面积仅占水文站控制流域面积的6‰,因此,电站的洪水频率计算直接采用上诠站计算成果.刘家峡水电站曾于1965年提出技术设计报告.1968年10月,刘家峡水库下闸蓄水,第一台机组发电,至今已运行了20年.1981年9月,黄河上游发生了自有水文观测资料以来的最大洪水.为此,结合上游正在兴建的龙羊峡水电站技术设计的需要,对刘家峡水电站的洪水频率计算成果重新进行了复核.
