Mrs. Thatcher’s archives at the University of Cambridge, UK, recently published a personal profile of Mrs. Thatcher’s since 1982, including details of some ceremonial arrangements such as the China Dinner. It shows that when Thatcher first visited China in the 1980s, he intended to treat the Chinese guests with the simplest dinner but was discouraged by the British ambassador to China, saying that this will cause China to feel contemptuous.
