In this paper, we use the data of geomagnetic stations at home and abroad to analyze the sudden changes of the annual variability of two geomagnetic northward components occurred in Asia in the 1960s and 1970s. Sudden changes in the 1960s took place in China, Japan, Indochina and the Indian subcontinent; sudden changes in the 1970s took place in Japan, Taiwan Province of China and the Philippines. In contrast, the areas that experienced sudden changes in the 1960s were larger, while the areas that experienced sudden changes in the 1970s were small and banded. Both of these sudden changes occur in a part of the globe and are a regional rather than a global phenomenon, and their distribution has nothing to do with latitude. Therefore, we think this sudden change comes from within the Earth instead of from the source On the outside of the earth.
