该文首先从“心理距离说”谈起,并明确提出“距离产生美”的距离,并不是指物理空间距离,而是指心理空间距离,即审美意象与生活具象之间的距离,审美理想与客观现实之间的距离、亦即“艺术高于生活”的距离!本文还把“心理距离”看作是艺术的一个特殊标准、艺术创作的一个基本原则、美学的一个重要特征。并由此联系《云南映象》探讨了原生态民间舞与舞蹈诗之间的差异与特征。同时,该文还认为原生态舞蹈、舞剧和舞蹈诗作为一种新的舞蹈分类方法已经超出了舞蹈的自然分类体系,并与该文作者在《舞蹈心理学》中提出的舞蹈的心理学分类方法密切符合和完全一致。
