Objective: To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), platelet derived growth factor-α receptor (PDGFR-α) and tumor angiogenesis in synovial sarcoma and its clinical significance. Methods: The expression of VEGF and PDGFR-α in 34 cases of primary synovial sarcoma was analyzed by immunohistochemical SP method. The factor Ⅷ was measured to calculate the microvessel density (MVD). Results: The positive rates of VEGF and PDGFR-α in synovial sarcoma were 61.76% (21/34) and 55.89% (19/34), respectively. The positive rates of VEGF and PDGFR-α in synovial sarcoma were 38.24% (13/34). VEGF, PDGFR-α were correlated with the grade, stage and prognosis of synovial sarcoma, and positively correlated with MVD, P <0.05. In addition, there is also a correlation between the two, P <0.05. Conclusion: VEGF and PDGFR-α can jointly regulate the angiogenesis of synovial sarcoma and can be used to judge the biological behavior of synovial sarcoma.
