Objective To observe the effect of resveratrol on alcoholic fatty liver in rats and to explore its mechanism. Methods Alcohol-induced fatty liver in rats was induced by gavage with alcohol and treated with resveratrol at doses of 50, 125 and 250 mg · kg-1. After 9 weeks, the levels of γ-glutamyl transpeptidase γ-GT), total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) Results Compared with the model group, the content of γ-GT and MDA in the resveratrol treatment group was significantly decreased, and the activity of T-SOD and the content of GSH were significantly increased (P <0.05). Conclusion Resveratrol has the effects of reducing γ-GT and antioxidation, protecting hepatocytes and improving alcohol-induced fatty liver.
