由于甜菜栽培中历来便存在着块根产量与高的含糖率如何结合的问题,虽然甜菜产量和产糖量大大增加,但甜菜质量却在下降.其原因据Rens·G(1980)和Akeson,W.R.(1981)的分析,生长期间气候影响含糖占50%,施肥影响占40%,收获质量影响占10%.可见施肥不当也十分明显地影响着甜菜含糖率的波动.Modig.S.A(1982)提出影响甜菜品质的补充观点称为“兰值”(Blue value),认为影响糖分含量除施肥因素外,还包括植株密度、水分利用率、培土、打顶和移栽、收获和装卸损失等因素.
