Southeast Asia’s petroglyphs have a lower degree of research than Australia and Europe, and most scholars believe that the origins of the rock paintings were late. The new dating results of mainland China and its islands show that the earliest petroglyphs in the area (realistic animals and ink-jet printing) Originated in the late Pleistocene, as ancient as Europe. The similarities in the themes of early petroglyphs in Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia suggest that they are the product of common human behaviors and that the difference in the background of their paintings, such as rock formations, suggests that deep cave experiences are not the source of inspiration for the petroglyph creators.
