沉积有机质的划分标准有许多种。石油、天然气主要是分散有机质演化而来,煤则是由泥炭沼泽中大量密集死亡的高等植物转变而来。相同的地质因素如温度、压力等对于不同有机质的转化的影响是不同的。为了更全面地了认识和了解有机质的演化过程,我们有必要对这些演化阶段进行适当并进行对比研究,以得出一些可以指导我们实践的成果。在有机质演化的不同阶段,有机质及其产物具有不同的阶段性特征。把握这些特点以及规律对于寻找能源物质具有重要意义。
