The Department of Rural Power of the Ministry of Water Resources organized the development of the regenerative electric furnace jointly conducted by the Hangzhou Small Hydropower Development and Design Institute and Xianju County of Zhejiang Province. After nearly two years of efforts, preliminary results have been achieved. The appraisal meeting held in Hangzhou in July 1986 passed the appraisal. The heat storage electric furnace heats and stores heat in the midnight trough. When the power is off during the daytime, it can solve the family’s heat of life and it is safe, clean and convenient. It can act as a peak-shaving and valley-filling function in a small water grid, which can reduce water abandonment in power stations. Electricity in the countryside
