There are many morphological deformities in the maxillary incisors, of which palatal radial grooves are seldom noticed and studied. Even the classic tooth anatomy textbooks rarely mention such deformities. The palatal radial grooves of the maxillary incisors usually extend from the lingual fossa and extend a different distance downward. Most of the grooves terminate in the lingual coronoid and about one-third of the grooves cross the enamel cementum. The authors studied 3168 maxillary central incisor maxillary incisors.
