交互电子音乐是以计算机和数字技术为依托,以电子声学为基础,以作曲家(演奏家)控制技术媒介并与计算机之间形成双向互动为主要特点的一种现场音乐创作,有多种演奏模式。其历史脉络源于19世纪后期和20世纪前期音乐与相关科技的发展逐渐催生出的关于追求音乐表演现场的不确定性、不唯一性的思维。与此前的音乐创作相比,交互电子音乐对非准确性和随机性都有所体现,而交互性(主要是人机交互)是其最重要的特点。
