Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Com- puting recently introduced Champ-AV6, a VPX-based VITA (VME Bus International Trade Union) 4DSP engine consisting of four PowerPC 8641 devices with serial switch fabric communications. The 8641 processor from Freescale (www.freescale.com) has two integrated 64-bit memory controllers and Altivec instruction set extensions that can perform up to eight floating-point operations in a single cycle. The Champ-AV6 has four 1.33GHz 8641s and delivers 42Gflops of peak floating-point performance. Data streaming system applications benefit from this board’s 8.5GB / s memory bandwidth and up to 2GB of DDR SDRAM.
