After the earthquake in San Francisco in 1906, the Chinese media reported promptly, but the disaster situation of overseas Chinese was unknown and the people were very worried. Driven by nationalism, newspapers and periodicals in Shanghai have launched a massive upsurge of fund-raising for overseas Chinese. All newspapers and periodicals in Beijing have been actively supporting the rights and interests of overseas Chinese and have had a great impact. However, the news broadcast of the earthquake in China is worth reflecting on. The failure of the Qing government to give full play to its information superiority has made the situation of overseas Chinese unknown. The domestic newspapers and magazines have paid too much attention to the issue of overseas Chinese while ignoring the extremely serious flood disaster in Hunan.
