火山作用对成岩成矿的意义,已为广大地质工作者所公认.三十年来,我国在火山岩地区开展地质调查、找矿勘探及科学研究工作,相继发现了一系列大、中、小型矿床,积累了丰富的实际资科和工作经验,提出了不少新观点和新认识.随着火山岩地区生产科研工作的进展,要求进一步加强区域火山岩资料综合对比,发展我国火山作用理论,促进火山岩地区区域地质调查和找矿.鉴于火山岩的复杂性,分类命名很不统一,岩石名称运用混乱,给综合研究对比工作带来许多困难,因此,逐步统一火山岩分类命名是当前急待解决的的问题.为此,中国地质学会岩石专业委员会于1980年11月10～16日在杭州召开了第一届全国火山岩会议.会议的中心议题是火山岩的分类命名,同时兼顾
