Austria is located in the central Europe with an area of about 84,000 square kilometers and a population of more than 760 million. The mountainous region occupies 2/3 of the country’s land, 130 to 3,797 meters above sea level. Its annual rainfall is 400-3,000 millimeters with an average of 1,190 millimeters. The forest area of Austria accounts for 44% (about 3.7 million hectares), and Finland and Sweden are both European forest resource rich countries. There are two forestry technical colleges in Austria and one forestry and forestry department at Vienna Agricultural University responsible for the national forestry education.
