With the support of the World Health Organization, the National Health Promotion Symposium convened by the Ministry of Health’s Foundation Women’s Department and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine was concluded recently. The meeting made a number of initiatives. The World Health Organization has proposed the global goal of “Health for All in 2000” to make health education an important tool. The “Ministerial Statement” signed at the 5th World Health Promotion Conference held in Mexico this year regards health as an important social resource and confirms the government’s responsibility in health promotion.
