东风水电站位于贵州省清镇、黔西两县交界的乌江干流上,是我国在岩溶地区兴建的又一座大型水电站。坝址控制流域面积18,161公里~2,多年平均流量345米~3/秒,实测最大洪水流量8,410米~3/秒,每年5～10月为汛期;11月～第2年4月为枯水期,此时水深一般为5～7米,河面宽50～60米。实测最大洪、枯水位差达24米。多年平均年输沙量为1,260万吨,年平均含沙量为1.13公斤/米~3。坝址岩层为三迭系下统
