Objective: To investigate the inhibitory effect and mechanism of Chinese Herbal Hot Toxin on human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) in vitro and in vivo. METHODS: Quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect the expression level of advanced HCMV mRNA in infected cells before and after the intervention of Chinese herbal drug Dumoqing. The progress of the lesions of infected cells was observed, and the thermal toxicity was established on the basis of in vitro experiments. For the clinical treatment of active HCMV-infected pregnant women, serum tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) levels were measured before and after treatment.
