Manai Township is under the jurisdiction of Jinchuan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is located on the banks of the Dadu River and is a terrain of high mountains and valleys. Its ethnic group is “Jiaerjang Tibetan”. Historically, the area was dominated by chieftains and the common people loved to sing and dance to the famous “Manet Pottery”. From the perspective of music and dance culture, “Manet Pottery” has the characteristics of typical ceremonial music and dance, and has obvious differences with Pot Zhuang in other parts of Tibet. In March 2003, the Manet Township where the “Manet Pottery” was located was named “Hometown of Chinese Folk Art” by the Ministry of Culture. In January 2006 and September 2006, I conducted two field surveys in Manai Township on Pot Zhuang as a ceremonial culture.
