[Objective] To investigate the effect of preoperative interstitial chemotherapy on the expression of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and microvessel density (MVD) in oral squamous cell carcinoma. [Methods] 30 patients with well-differentiated oral squamous cell carcinoma who were treated in 2009 were divided into preoperative vein chemotherapy group (15 cases) and interstitial chemotherapy group (15 cases). Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of COX-2 , VEGF expression levels and MVD values. [Results] The expression of COX-2, VEGF and MVD in preoperative interstitial chemotherapy group were significantly lower than those in preoperative vein chemotherapy group (P <0.05), COX-2, VEGF negative (P <0.05). [Conclusions] Both preoperative interstitial chemotherapy and intravenous chemotherapy may reduce the expression of COX-2, VEGF and MVD and thus reduce the number of tumor neoplasms The role of angiogenesis, interstitial chemotherapy is more obvious than intravenous chemotherapy.
