凝聚了汉民族高度智慧的汉字,以其既能以形达意、又能以形表音的双向多重联想的写意性特征和富含信息,极具视觉表象性的方块形特征,不仅在学习上显示出为写音文字所不及的易学易记的巨大优越性,而且在锻炼大脑左右两半球的协同活动,开发人类创造性潜能方面也显示出无与伦比的科学价值。为此,汉字认知问题已经越来越多地引起认知心理学、神经语言学等领域的科学家们的研究兴趣。于是,探索汉字信息处理中的生理、心理规律,揭示人脑对汉字的信息加工方式便理所当然地成了认知科学或思维科学的重要课题之一。
