This is the second chapter of the book Interpretation Theory in A-applied Geophysics published by the author in 1965, and as the author put it in the conclusion of this chapter, the emphasis of this chapter is to elaborate Three simplified assumptions about the source of the elastic wave equation, namely the isotropy, homogeneity and complete elasticity of the medium. Disruption of the anisotropy, inhomogeneity and incomplete elasticity of these three hypotheses and their solutions are the focuses of our interest. For this reason the author also made a general derivation of the wave equation. In order to understand the wave equation under special conditions and its solution, it is also meaningful to know the author’s symbols and their derivation in the ordinary wave equation.
