[Objective] To study the volatile components from shells of Juglans sigillata D.by GC-MS.[Method] The volatile components were extracted from J.sigillata shells by steam distillation, and then identified by GC-MS.[Result] A total of 20 compounds were identified from J.sigillata shells, among which fatty acid and aliphatic hydrocarbon were the main volatile components, accounting for 50.41% of the total volatile oil.The content of hexadecanoic acid occupying 25.46% of the total volatile oil was the highest in J.sigillata shells, followed by anthracene(4.41%),linoleic acid(4.37%),diphenylene-oxide(2.50%) and heptacosane(2.27%).[Conclusion] The major volatile components in the J.sigillata shells were fatty acid and aliphatic hydrocarbon.
