The converted-wave overlay technique requires a true co-reflection dot gathers, ie, true co-conversion point (CCP) gathers. Here, we study the horizontal stacking of PS and SP converted waves. The coordinates of the transition points of PS and SP waves in a single uniform layer can be calculated one by one as a function of offset, reflection interface depth and velocity ratio (Vp / Vs). Knowing the transition point, we can form the trace gather in the CCP records. Numerical experiments show that the CCP coordinates in multi-layer media are also valid
