Objective To investigate the population distribution, seasonal fluctuation and virus-carrying status of tick and host mice in Zhejiang Province with fever and thrombocytopenia syndrome Bunyavirus (SFTSV). Methods In 2013, four ticks were collected in seven cities (counties) of Zhejiang Province by artificial cloth flagging method and animal body surface collection method. Mouse-shaped animals were captured by squirrel-cage method, and liver and spleen specimens were collected. The SFTSV nucleic acid was detected by RT-PCR. Results There were 751 common ticks belonging to 6 families, 1 genera and 10 species. Among them, P. longicornis was the dominant tick species, accounting for 58.5% (439/751). The distribution of ticks in different counties (districts) was not identical (χ2 = 1198.409 , P <0.05). March to October is the tick’s activity period, and the second quarter is the tick’s activity peak. A total of 1078 mouse-shaped animals were captured, including 13 rodents belonging to 3 genera and 7 genera and 13 species belonging to 7 genera of 3 genera, and 2 insects belonging to 2 genera and 2 genera of 2 species of carnivores. Apodemus agrarius and black gazelle accounted for 32.9% of the total captured (355/1078) And 30.2% (326/1078) respectively. The species of rats in different regions were different (χ2 = 1623.480, P <0.05). Ticks and mouse samples of New Bunyan virus nucleic acid test were negative. Conclusion The distribution of SFTSV vector ticks and host mice in Zhejiang Province is still under investigation. However, their vectors and potential hosts need further investigation.
