When designing long-term fiber composite structures, it is important to estimate their lifetime. In order to study this topic, experimental studies on simple epoxy composites made from S-glass, aromatic (1971) fibers and some graphite fibers began in 1969. The method is to carry out the life test (also called stress failure or static fatigue test) under these pre-impregnated fiber bundles. The fiber bundles were selected because they really represent the basic structural blank of the composite.
