In our magazine, there have been times when practical examples of petrographic changes have sometimes been found that can be discerned with the familiarly known seismic methods. We can now provide a more recent example. In PRAKLA-SEISMOS, where multiple seismic reflection surveys were conducted, it was found that the reflection quality of individual layers was significantly improved over previous measurements in the vicinity of shallow anticlines. This reflection comes from non-dense, porous sandstone about 15 meters thick with natural gas often stored in formations between the two seismic wave cycles.
