The global economy recovered fully in 2004, but the recovery and growth momentum of some economies have slowed down since the third quarter. The U.S. economy still maintained a relatively strong growth momentum and employment conditions continued to improve. Eurozone economy is slowly recovering. Japan’s economic growth slowed and it has not yet completely rid itself of the problem of deflation. Emerging market economies in Latin America and Asia have maintained strong growth. The orientation of fiscal policy after Bush’s reelection is still unclear. The U.S. current account deficit is widening.
