The former Raphaelite was a group of artists that extended from painting to poetry. The identity of poet painters of some members enabled them to both poetic illustration and poetic painting. In illustrations and inscribed poems made by Raphael’s predecessors, the intertextual relations between poetry and painting are rewritten, supplemented and imitated. The illustrations of the pre-Raphaelite poetry constitute the dialogue between the poetic and the poetic texts through the differences and contradictions with the poetic texts so as to promote the renewal of the meaning of poetic and graphic texts. Their title poems show the addition and imitation of the painting texts. They enrich the meaning of poetry and painting works by extending the scope of the painting texts in terms of time and space. At the same time, through the imitation of painting expressions, the meaning of poetry is presented Uncertainty and diversity. Intertextuality in poetry and painting is an effective way for Raphael’s pre-schoolists to break through the academic rules of academics and to rejuvenate their art vitality and carry out artistic innovation.
