Objective To understand the prevalence and influencing factors of metabolic syndrome (MS) among 15 ~ 74-year-old residents in Ningbo and to provide basis for prevention and control of MS. Methods The multi-stage random sampling method was used to collect MS-related questionnaires, physical examination and laboratory tests from 15 to 74-year-old residents in Ningbo. The prevalence of MS in Ningbo residents was assessed using MS diagnostic criteria jointly established by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the American Heart Association / American Heart Lung Blood Institute (AHA / NHLBI) in 2009, and the influencing factors of MS prevalence were analyzed using Logistic regression model . Results The effective rate of this questionnaire was 97.73%. A total of 5 160 people were surveyed, including 2 561 males and 2 599 females, with an average of (44.94 ± 15.15) years. The crude prevalence rate of MS was 29.38% and the standardization rate was 27.59%. The standardization rates of MS and MS were 28.83% and 26.33% respectively. The prevalence of MS and its components increased with age P <0.05). MS combination of various forms of central obesity + hypertriglyceridemia + low-density lipoprotein cholesterol + high blood pressure combination for the most common, accounting for 15.24%. Logistic regression analysis showed that age, smoking, family history of obesity and family history of hypertension were risk factors for MS. Conclusion The prevalence of MS among 15 ~ 74-year-old residents in Ningbo is higher. The older, smokers, obese and family history of hypertension are the high risk MS patients.
