W 18Cr4V is a high-carbon, multi-alloy steel that is characterized by a variety of stable carbides and therefore has a high degree of thermosetting properties and is widely used in the tooling industry. However, due to its multiple features and initial crystallization conditions, a brittle grid is formed in the as-cast HSS, resulting in a very uneven microstructure which results in low initial ductility, poor thermal conductivity and great deformation resistance.
