Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a new process for making ceramic powders using lasers. This new process may be cheaper than traditional methods and may be the first economically viable chemical process laser industrial application. The single grain harder and more reliable ceramics produced with this process improve the energy system, revolutionize the design of multilayer substrates and replace the strategic metals now imported from abroad.
