新年伊始,厉慧良先生应邀赴上海演出。1月8日和9日,他在上海大舞台分别演出了《长坂坡》和《挑滑车》、《艳阳楼》,受到观众热烈欢迎。1月10日下午,在上海艺术研究所举行了“厉派艺术研讨会”,上海京剧界、学术界、新闻界50余位知名人士出席。研讨会上发言踊跃,大家从不同角度对厉慧良的艺术成就和艺术特色进行了评论、探讨。许多发言者认为,厉慧良在宗法杨小楼武生艺术的基础上,通过长期实践又有创新,形成自己的独特风格,并为一些青年演员所效法。主持这次研讨会的上海艺术研究所戏曲室主任王家熙说:在京剧界应当提倡创新精神,不应以模防前人象不象作为评价一个演员
At the beginning of the new year, Mr. Li Huiliang was invited to perform in Shanghai. On January 8 and 9, he performed “Changbanpo” and “Pick-ups” and “Sunny House” respectively on the big stage in Shanghai and was warmly welcomed by the audience. Many speakers think that Li Huiliang formed his own unique style through long-term practice and innovation on the basis of the art of martial arts in Yang Zonglou’s patriarchal style of worship and followed the example of some young performers. Wang Jixi, director of the drama department of the Shanghai Art Institute who presides over the symposium, said: "We should promote innovation in the Beijing opera industry. We should not use the analogy as an evaluation of an actor
