乡、镇作为我国行政区划中最基层的一级政权组织,担负着基层的政治、经济、社会的稳定与发展,担负着贯彻执行党的各项方针政策、行使国家基层政权职能的任务。乡、镇大多设于农村,隶属于区(直辖市下属)、县、市领导。它们一头连着城市,一头连着农村,在农村乃至整个国家的社会经济生活中,发挥着十分重要的基础性作用。 Townships and towns, as the grassroots political organizations in the administrative divisions of our country, are responsible for the political, economic and social stability and development of the grassroots. They shoulder the task of implementing the party’s various principles and policies and exercising the functions of the grassroots government.
