瓷器上以龙纹作装饰,由来已久。宋以后,龙做为封建权势的象征,被大量地表现在瓷器上,如:腾云龙、戏珠龙、海水龙、蟠龙、行龙、团龙、飞龙、穿花龙,等等形状。陈列在故宫博物院陶瓷馆的青花矾红海水龙纹碗,是明宣德时期景德镇“御窑厂”为宫廷烧制的御用瓷器,保存至今已有五百多年了。盌高10.9厘米,口径15.7厘米,足径7.5厘米。在形如仰钟的稳重的碗体上,海浪澎湃,九条龙腾跃而出,大有翻江闹海,行云播雨之势,整个器物充溢着古雅而又威严的气韵。
