有千年以上传统的水墨画,其题材、内容、章法和笔墨体系在衍变过程中,流派和风格之多,如百川汇入大海。而不同样式的中国画在创新问题上只能采用“渐变”而不是“突变”的方式,每个画家都是在时代的渐悟渐行中体察和实践。中国的现代水墨画,如果缺少对于中国传统文化内在特征的理解和认识,也就会缺少一种文化背景上的支撑;如果缺少对传统中国画固有创造模式的承继和发扬,便失去创造当代语境的可能,也就等于没有生命力的存在。
