On March 28, 2006, 11 big trade unions in the UK organized a 24-hour strike and 1.5 million local municipal workers took to the streets to protest. As a result, many local public transportation subways were out of operation, tunnels were closed, school buses were canceled, Schools, libraries, sports centers and tourist spots are closed. It even disrupted the schedule scheduled for President Clinton’s meeting with Britain’s Treasury Secretary Brown to have a major impact both at home and abroad. The strike is the nation’s largest national strike since the 1926 strike. The demands of the trade unions should not raise the qualifications of local public officials to receive pension insurance, but should remain at 60 years of age.
