I often see or hear some people cry out loud or emotionally about philosophy losing its former “glory”, and I have some sympathy with it on the one hand; on the other hand, there is some concern. What we call a certain sense of similarity means that we do not attach much importance to philosophy at present, and indeed it is cause for concern. Not philosophical nations and nations (especially a populous nation and nation) can not only stand in the forefront of the world but can hardly even achieve lasting peace and stability. The so-called some concern is that in all sorts of outcry, but also reflects the philosophical “command everything”, “Regal everything” nostalgia. In fact, the philosophy of the past, “command everything” and “do everything” is not a normal state, is a “fever” state. The cold-shoulder of philosophy today is precisely the weakness shown after “fever.” If we want to overcome the current downturn in philosophy, we can no longer dream of philosophy to “command everything” and “rule everything”. Instead, we must draw lessons from the past and point out a correct path of development for philosophy.
