By the end of August, the Indian Defense Ministry approved the purchase of “Spider” short-range air defense missile systems from Israel that could be used to equip three missions. This is a short-range anti-aircraft missile system manufactured by Israel’s Rafael Armament Company. India wanted to replace the old Russian-made Sam-8 and Sam-13 systems to protect the Indian Army’s armored forces and key facilities. It is learned that the purchase cost of this Indian spending is about 400 billion rupees (about 820 million U.S. dollars), which is the huge sum bill that India once again pays Israel after the purchase of the “Faircon” airborne warning system in 2004.
