我市远洋渔业与全国相比起步较晚,但发展较快。1993年我市成立了市远洋渔业公司,当年4月22日,第一次派出了国有渔业渔船4艘赴国外渔场作业,同年9月又有2艘开赴国外渔场。1994年12月8日,塘沽区远洋渔业总公司也派出270马力钢质渔船10艘,赴南太平洋海域从事对拖捕捞作业。截止到1995年2月底,我市共有16艘生产船在国外从事远洋渔业 Ocean fishing in our city started relatively late compared with the whole country, but developed rapidly.
