台湾位于太平洋西岸海运、航运要冲,北接日本、朝鲜、南衔菲律宾、印尼,西毗大陆,东临大平洋,居亚太地区中枢,属海岛型经济地域。岛内地狭人稠,资源有限,难以自足,原料、燃料、设备和部份工农业产品均需进口,对外贸易成为台湾经济发展的“原动力”和“生命线”。自1952年至1989年37年间,进出口总额增长281倍。外贸活动全靠海运,占99.5%。海运事业有较大发展,高雄、基隆、花莲、台中、苏澳五个国
Taiwan is located in the west coast of the Pacific Ocean shipping, shipping hub, north of Japan, North Korea, South of the Philippines, Indonesia, west of the continent, east of the Pacific Ocean, the Asia-Pacific hub, is a sea-based economy. As the island is thick and narrow with limited resources, it can not be self-sufficient. Raw materials, fuel, equipment and some industrial and agricultural products are imported. Foreign trade has become the “driving force” and “lifeline” of Taiwan’s economic development. From 1952 to 1989, 37 years, the total volume of imports and exports increased 281 times.
