As a kind of exotic art, oil painting art has been developed in China for more than 100 years. However, during the various periods of her development, she was strongly influenced by Western literary and artistic trends. Even in the era when Chinese oil painting returned to Chinese tradition or proposed a combination of Chinese and Western cultures, she was subtly exposed to the intrusion of foreign cultures, both technically and ideologically on. From the early classicism, romanticism, realism and impressionism to later expressionism, pop art, feminism, and action genre, they all have a great influence on the development of Chinese oil painting. The concrete manifestation of this kind of influence in Chinese oil painting is that Chinese studying abroad artists studied Western Impressionism and classicism in the 1910s. This process is mainly a process of study. By the 1960s the study of the Soviet model had seen the emergence of a large number of works on the subject of revolutionary realism during which oil painting existed as a political art. By the late 1970s, the appearance of scar art in China was also a continuation and reflection on revolutionary realism. After the trend of 85 in the arts, the direction of canvas art in China turned to realism, mainly cynical realism. After that is the post-modern art invasion of China. This article mainly analyzes the influence of Western literary and artistic trends on China in different periods and the artwork that China presents under such conditions and the social background of China under the post-colonial era of such cultural invasion.
