Two main hypotheses have been proposed regarding the genesis of phelloids and banded eclogite in western Norway gneiss, a “mother rock” eclogite. The first is that Lappin and Smith (1978), based on the petrological and field observations in the local area, suggest that this parent rock eclogite was invaded into gneiss due to tectonic activity after the mantle reached equilibrium. Another model suggests that this parent rock eclogite is an in situ crustal genesis. Most of the Norwegian mother rock eclogites studied so far are located in the north of Nordod, while the eclogites produced in the Sankt Yode district are seldom known. To do this, we select from 4 locations in the eastern part of the region (Figure 1)
